Our history

Our business was originally part of the renowned Borggårds Bruk, which can trace its history back to a 16th-century ironworks. In 1882 the company began producing a range of standard wire hardware, soon becoming Sweden’s leading wholesaler.

Fast forward to 1989, when Borggårds Bruk was acquired by Sten Eklöf, an industry man locally born and with parents earlier involved in the business. The company was then
split into two divisions: standard products and custom industrial products.

In the early 2000s the standard products division built up an international network of selected suppliers, turning itself into a modern trading business with an expanded offering based on classic wire hardware from Borggårds Bruk.

In 2008 the Eklöf family set up a separate company, Borggårds Trading AB, to acquire
the standard products business from Borggårds Bruk and develop it further. The new
trading company signed a third-party logistics agreement with Borggårds Bruk to base its warehousing and distribution operations in Borggård.

Since 2015 the company has had sales and purchasing office in Norrköping and has been headed by Staffan Wering Eklöf, the third generation of his family to work in the business.
